Quilted By Grace
Sharing words of inspiration, comfort, and hope.
The Power of Blessing
As a shy sixth grader, I pursued activities I loved, such as reading, writing, and drawing. Because I enjoyed these pastimes, I did not mind the solitude. In the spring, my teacher gave a Language Arts assignment to write and illustrate a story. I spent hours drawing my protagonists at our family dining room table. As the deadline loomed, I rushed to print by hand the remainder of my story.
A Spool of Thread
A shaft of early morning light spills across a basket of spools, highlighting the threads’ varied hues. The colorful strands are indispensable to a crafter. In quilting, thread is used to bind a project together as well as decorate a quilt top with intricate designs. Some are stitched in contrasting shades while others are almost hidden against the same tint of fabric.
We Are Quilted By Grace
A skillful quilter uses a variety of colors, selected materials, careful stitches, perseverance, and hours of work to produce a beautiful, quilted masterpiece. As skilled writers, we quilt with words, and our creative process is much the same. We pick a unifying theme rather than a block pattern to follow. We choose from a variety of words and stories instead of textures and fabrics. We lay out our ideas and edit and polish our compositions, much like a quilter cuts and pieces together cloth shapes into designs. When our wordsmithing is complete, we bind the pages together and our finished product is a book instead of an elaborate quilt. The labor of our love, Quilting Lessons, now graces many homes and lifts hearts.
Welcome to Quilted By Grace
Every author has a journey to publication which is unique to them. Our story, like so many others, started with the support of friends and family. They dreamt with us and encouraged us in seeing our ideas birthed from our hearts and minds to Quilting Lessons.
